Biggar Museums Trust has published an anthology of writing inspired by Brownsbank Cottage at Candymill, near Biggar, the last home of Hugh MacDiarmid – ‘the father of modern Scottish poetry’.

Collected and edited by former Brownsbank Writing Fellows, Linda Cracknell and Tom Bryan, and Brownsbank Secretary Andrew McCallum, the anthology features writing by visitors of all ages from Britain, Canada and the United States.

“The anthology has been about five years in the making,” Andrew McCallum explains.  “Linda gathered most of the content and had the original idea of producing a book, Tom edited it and liaised with the contributors, and I produced the print-ready copy and design and saw it through the production process.

“None of this would have been possible without the financial support of the Roberstson Trust, South Lanarkshire Council and Glasgow University.”

All the proceeds from the book will go towards the upkeep of the Cottage.
